The CompoCool® concept consists of a unique cooling, transport and storage system for whole blood, improving quality and standardization of blood component preparation. CompoCool® enables rapid cooling of whole blood down to 20 – 24°C immediately after donation for optimal component yield and improved quality. By using CompoCool®, the storage temperature of whole blood units is standardized for up to 24 hours. This benefit of the CompoCool® system reduces component processing outside normal working hours and solves logistic problems for mobile donations. The shelf life of CompoCool® cartridges is 5 years.
